I was too young to see flyleaf in their "hayday", but I think it'd be tough to beat their performance in Minneapolis tonight.
I had a conversation with a security guard before the show, about whether I thought artists/bands got sick of playing the same songs over and over.
I framed my answer around flyleaf specifically, (considering them having 20 year old records in their set list) and I said from everything I've seen leading up to the show tonight, It definitely didn’t look like they're sick of it.
When it may be your last time performing in a given city, or even touring at all, i imagine you might take in each performance more than you may have when you were fresh on the scene. Funny enough, Lacey spoke on the uncertainty of life and how appreciation for it can be fleeting along with a song dedication to her bandmate Sameer, who suffered a serious motorcycle accident in recent years.
Besides the obviously powerful testimony she gave before performing 'All around me', the passion of the performance by each bandmate was palpable. Seriously great show with no signs of slowing down. Highlighted by Lacey and Pat and their almost feral desire to own the stage.
It's fun watching others have fun.
