Despite the drowned out slow-gazy vibes of their most popular records, Novulent enabled a higher energy this crowd was looking for.

7th Street Entry is a great venue for this kind of artist. The lack of light, fresh air or space tends to bring out the best (or worst) in a crowd, and every part of Novulents diverse audience found a place to be themselves. "Fangirls" in the front row, Jr moshpit junkies in the middle, and a back wall lined with the shyer admirers.

There was a strong feeling of reciprocated appreciation for each other as artist and audience. Their fans are most definitely THEIR fans. They stuck around and signed things and took photos with everyone who waited.

Novulent has a surprisingly upbeat and cheerful demeanor in between songs and after the show, despite the dreading and longing subject matter of their records.

Although maybe cool aesthetically, i think the red-retro style microphone they used was at a cost, sound quality.

Through many shows I've been to at 7th St I'm not sure it lines up with the standard level of production that 7th St is touted for. Not a knock at Novulent, because they performed their songs with passion regardless.

Overall this show was great, It's always fun to see a crowd that's unabashedly themselves and an artist that reassures them in that.
